Life is only as meaningful as each and every meaning we impart to it.

Raja/Raya

"The Indian title Raya is related to Raja" -- I find that Raya's name is even more fitting. Isn't she a little princess! Had to share :)

Raya Abigail Ritter!!

Get this Baby out! -- off to the hospital: lalalalala Labor .... so here's the rundown: Jeff and I left for the hospital at 8:00 am in the morning, for some strange reason (not that being 9 months pregnant is any excuse) I was emotional -- it was leaving Seth and Levi, I hate leaving them -- seriously, the only time I've really been away from Seth is was when Levi was born, and this is my first time being away from Levi. SO, at 10:30 I began my inducement. My nurse was absolutely AMAZING, she even tucked Jeff in for a nap with blankets she warmed in the microwave. I really felt like we had a special relationship, did I say she was amazing? -- I need to get a picture of her. Once I got settled, I realized how nice this was. Ok, mothers when was the last time you had a room absolutely silent, with not obligations? Suffice it to say I took full advantage of the comfy bed and fridge stocked with chocolate milk. Around 12:00 my water began leaking, this has never happened, I've always had to have my water ruptured -- and once it was ruptured the baby was out in 2 hours .. so they sent for the epidural with the thought the baby would come out soon. --- but my water leaked slowly. It didn't bother me though I was still relaxing, but no longer able to drink chocolate milk. Around 4:30 (everyone was under the impression that my water was gone at this point) I began feeling nauseous... so they checked me and I still had water. WHAT! that's why this was taking so long -- I was getting hungry too, so I started moving and finally decided that I should probably get this thing going. Apparently I have 5 times the normal amount of water than the average woman, and my sac is a lot tougher. My Dr. came and broke the rest (to many nurses disbelief) of my water at 5:40, then everything happened so fast. In a second I had tears in my eyes and was yelling for Jeff to "PRESS THE BUTTON!!!" (meaning my epidural) I heard my nurse yell "grab a gown, call for another nurse, I don't have anything ready it's all outside the door!" My doctor yell, "Rachael, just breath through it and don't push!" Raya was born at 5:45. I was laughing while I pushed, it was so ridiculous. It's a good thing I didn't break the water myself! I'd of had a baby on the floor. but also... it's a shame Dr. Tren was swamped at the office and couldn't come sooner, because I could of had this baby a lot sooner. Anyways Raya was born 8 pound 8 ounces 20.6 inches. And here's her first bath --- SHE HAS HAIR! I love that she looks different than the boys. When Levi came out, I was like "oh, another Seth."My boys with my girl :) We love our little girl!

I dreamt that I gave birth to a sinister wooden puppet

... so I think it's funny that part of my "nesting,"getting ready to-do's, baby ready mayhem --- is to update my blog. By the way I'm being induced tomorrow (!!!) I've wanted to show our new home for a while... like a while a while, but i just haven't been able to get my house how I like it, and it's still not there but oh well, I just took some quick pics of the our home as is. So Living room: painted it a cream color (vintage white) and put new carpet in throughout the house. We plan on putting our free trim probably in the spring. Kitchen: boring ... I don't know how to decorate a kitchen, I'm not a knick-knack person. My curtains are cute, too bad there's such a heavy glare, oh well.Playroom: Painted blue Boys room: have the paint, but doesn't look like I'll get around to it :) -- considering I'm being induced tomorrow. Just think green. And I want to refinish the dresser. M. bedroom: we put new tile in the bathroom ... it had carpet when we moved in! Bleh! that was the first thing to go. And it's actually a lot bigger than it appears in this picture. (sidenote: do you see the bear on our bed? Sethy makes sure that it's there everyday. It's Jeff's when he was little and Seth absolutely insists! he is so cute.) Well, we're very happy to have moved. REALLY HAPPY, and here are some reasons why: New House vs "Weird" green-house -It has light switches -It has light fixtures -electrical wiring isn't off -more than one outlet in a room -pipes do not freeze -cabinets in the bathroom -We can open the windows -seal is not broken on windows -no mold -washer and dryer work -2 bathrooms -carpet -No wood paneling walls -dishwasher -garbage disposal -accessible driveway in the winter -roof does not leak -No dangerous stairs -No mice -And IT'S OURS. NO CRAZY LANDLADY! ... to be fair... I will miss our orchard that had a variety of apples, pears, and plums and 5 acres with no neighbors ... we rented that house for the space, and it was fun in the summer ... but JUST the summer. And finally "The Plan" -- we bought this manufactured home for 30,000 (really an amazing deal, our neighbors just bought theirs for ~65,000).. got 3,000 back because of the stipend, so really we got the house for 27,000. Jeff will be in school for 4-5 years, and if we pay off 5,000 a year and hopefully we can sell if for at least 40,000 with all the little updates, we'll use that as a down payment and start building our more-or-less permanent home. Whew, we'll see how everything pans out in 4-5 years :) _________________________ Moving on _____________________ I love my boys. Quick update on where they're at.
"Levi Rivers Ritter!" or "Little One" Are usually how I address him.
You really don't know how funny this kid is, he kind'of clams up in public, he observes everything! -- Seth is the same way too. He loves music, some songs he knows: "Baby Beluga,""Mr. Sun,""Baby of Mine," "ABC's,""Down by the Bay,""Twinkle Little Star,""Ba Ba Black Sheep," And really so many more. He makes a stage out of anything, he'll stand on our ottoman and just start belting out lyrics, with a pretend microphone. And of course he dances. He's learning the sounds of the alphabet ... I don't know how many he knows, he doesn't perform on command he'll start being silly (hmm... sound like anyone, JEFF?) but I know he knows the sounds of A,B,C,D -- I think he can recognize most of his letters, and he really likes to practice drawing letters on the chalk board -- especially the letter "L." He's always asking Jeff and I to make letters for him. I think he can count to 15? colors ... shapes knows the basics, loves creating boats and cars with legos. kids are amazing they absorb information like sponges.
Sethy, or Sethy-sweet
Ok, my other amazing kid. Really how did I get so lucky? He still likes building with legos, do you like the design of his airplane? He's really just so absorbed in learning letters and reading. He wants to learn so badly, -- I find him practicing his letters, making words with magnets, always wants to type an email to Daddy when he's at work (and yes, he knows where each letter is positioned on the keyboard (for the most part, if it's not instant he's aware of the location) and can type out really any three letter word) He's getting the concept of time and loves checking the clock for us, getting the concept of numbers ... that they just repeat themselves in sequences of 10. I love watching my children learn and grow and can't wait until I'm not pregnant so I can focus more on them!
