Reflections of an unwilling t-ball mom.

When Seth was hopping up and down pleading to me, "Please, please, please, yes, yes, yes, I want to play tball!" I had an inward groan ... ughh... really? tball?  I am soooo not a tball/baseball parent.  I must really love this kid.  So now I take Seth twice a week to tball.  I come to practice was my kindle or my knitting and sit comfortably in the grass. .... the other parents come in with a trunk load of equipment: blankets, chairs, umbrellas, coolers, waterbottles, a goat (k, not really) -- it is a 5 year old T-ball team people! That only lasts an hour! (!!)

It was Seth's first game today, and it was really cute.  He was really cute at least... (not the parents, some of them are down right scary!) (mental note:  man in camouflaged hat encouraging five boys to pee in the woods)

Some moments I would like to remember:

-Seth making the coaches find him a new batting helmet that he liked.  The game was postponed for a little bit while someone had to run to another field.

-Seth doing some fancy lunges in the outfield, waiting in anticipation for the ball to come his way.

-Seth being the pitcher for the second inning, by the end of the inning I think he was getting desperate because once he caught the batted ball, instead of throwing the ball to first base to tag the runner out, he started throwing them at the player.  There were some pretty close calls!!

Seth, I love you.

The start of summer...

Montessori ends....

It's amazing how fast and slow time has been with regards to Montessori. (slow being hauling three kids to and fro the school twice a day) We've really enjoyed Montessori, its program and philosophy concurs with my own ideas about raising children.

Mother's day weekend

For Mother's Day weekend we headed over to the west side of the state.  It was a bit of an impromptu visit, Jeff's family dog had to be put "to sleep" on Friday, and it was (really) sad.  I didn't like the thought of Jane (my mother-in-law) being sad on Mother's Day weekend, and as egocentric as it may sound, I thought a visit would cheer up the weekend a bit.  The kids were more than thrilled to go.  The kids love grandma and grandpa's house: lots of chocolate to eat, sticks to find, frogs to catch.  I took a nap outside in my squishy mossy grass.  It was green and beautiful.

Seth is a chess fiend! Luckily there are so many people willing to play with him.
"I love my Mom because she gives me vitamins almost every day." -- I can hear Seth's voice so clearly when I read this.  This is so Seth, I love it and him.

 Cougar twinners.
At an overpriced garden, it was lovely but really, you go to someone's backyard on Whidbey Island and it's lovely.

I made sure to get in some photos, I seem to be lacking lately in my family record.

 Love this boy!
I love this flower ... seriously, love it.

For Mother's Day Jeff took me out on Saturday for dinner.  We ate at a new restaurant on the island, and I loved it!  I loved the colors, the table and chairs, the silverware, the napkins, the food, the waiters, the timing of the food.  It was all wonderful.  I think we'll make it a tradition to eat their because I really don't "love" a lot of restaurants. It was really nice just to have some time with Jeff.  It was also nice eating a meal and not having to worry about someone spilling their milk.  For my mother's day activity with the kids we went to "Paint My World" -- where we helped the kids each paint and personalize a plate, another activity I think we'll make a tradition.

Kamiak Butte

Seth had a field trip to Kamiak Butte with his Montessori class, so we thought we would tag along.  It was nice to get outside, and it was nice that it was Jeff's final's week so he could come along too. It was a beautiful view at the top, and it was fun seeing Seth interact with his school friends.  AND, I was very impressed that Levi walked up the Butte, even though he insisted that he needed to be carried.  There was no way I was carrying Levi.

Soccer

The boys finished up soccer this last (last) week.  I loved watching them be on the same team, they're such great friends.  I loved watching Levi run (is that awful to say? probably, but he's so cute!!) Above are pictures of the kids with their soccer certificates, Raya was feeling left out, so Seth was kind enough to get one for her.

Mommy moment

"Mommy moments," -- these are moments with my children where I am simultaneousness overwhelmed and overjoyed.  They are typically small, unique, (usually ridiculous) and that can really only exist in a parent-child relationship.

After taking the kids swimming, getting ready in the locker room: I had my three cherubic little children splashing around me in the shower.  Giggling when being sprayed by the shower faucet. Me attempting to wash my hair. I look behind me and see my boys catching the soapy water running from my hair with their goggles, and then, drinking the soapy water.

Overwhelmed, overjoyed. I love being a mother.
